The Cerrada is a ritual used by Mexican midwives. It is a ritual used above all in the postpartum period, to close the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual opening the woman has experienced during birth. Birth is opening, giving of yourself, surrendering. With the Cerrada we close the woman’s body that has opened and return the energy to her body. The Cerrada is like an embrace around the whole body, helping us release the pain and recover our centre, making it easier to integrate the experience.
The Cerrada ritual can also be done after a pregnancy loss, a separation, an illness, or any process or stage of life you wish to close.
At Mudra we use it to close the birth process and enter the energy of postpartum and raising our children, and with this closing we bring our support to an end.
If we have not accompanied you through your birth and postpartum, you can also ask us for a Cerrada session, either at our space or at your home, together with family, friends or whoever you wish.
The session lasts one hour, and two midwives will accompany you.
